Anger Makes You Stupid

VIDEO HERE  (8:22 minutes)

*****

I'll do you one better. Not only do I not make serious decisions or run my mouth when I'm angry, I also don't make decisions when I'm tired. I learned at an early age to put off any major decisions until I've gotten a good night's sleep and I'm not running on emotions.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire

Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kristen Louelle Gaffney is fed up with California — and she’s leaving.

Gaffney, 34, blasted California’s homeless and drug crises as a reason she and her 2-time Super Bowl champion husband, Tyler Gaffney, took their three kids and fled to Nashville, Tennessee.

Gaffney, a San Diego native, told Fox News she was fed up with policies created by President Biden, Gov. Gavin Newsom and city governments that have fueled the problems.

Florida to Teach Public School Students About Communism

Florida school students will receive instruction on the history of communism after a bill was signed into law on Wednesday.

Gov. Ron DeSantis signed  that will require public schools to implement age-appropriate teaching lessons on the history of communism, beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.

“We’ve seen what’s happened on the island of Cuba over these many decades, because of totalitarian ideology, communist ideology, and you’ve wrecked a society, because of that tyranny,” DeSantis said.

Mean Girls Rising

Once the putative party of the people, the Democrats are increasingly the party of political “Mean Girls.” Epitomized by the congressional “Squad,” radicalized women are driving the party ever further to the leftist fringe on issues such as embracing Hamas, apocalyptic climate policies, mass illegal immigration, and transgenderism.

Wealthy residents are fleeing LA, San Francisco and Orange County to little-known city dubbed the 'armpit' of California

Affordable real estate in Cali city hotspots is hard to come by - so much so that wealthy citizens are increasingly fleeing inland to a city dubbed 'the armpit' of the golden state.

Enter Bakersfield - a locale that's a far cry from its Bay Area brethren - and better known for its heat and pollution.

It's comprised mostly of cows and open farmland - and now, real estate data shows, thousands of coastal Californians.

Bakersfield? Fucking Bakersfield?
I've been to Bakersfield only a few times but the one thing that always stood out to me was how fucking dusty it was there, and this is coming from somebody that lived on farmland surrounded by even more farmland. It was so dusty in Bakersfield that the first time I went there, I left my truck for 2 hours and when I returned, there was a layer of dust on it that was so thick I could've written my name on the hood.

Commentary: Biden Losing Support of Young Men Due to Border Crisis

The latest Harvard Youth Poll reveals President Joe Biden has lost significant ground with voters under thirty compared to four years ago, with a 20-point decline among young men. While young Americans give Biden low marks on foreign policy and economic issues including inflation, housing, and the job market, immigration is a leading factor in young people’s departure from Democrats.

Weekend at Paulo's

When Érika de Souza Vieira wheeled her lethargic-looking uncle into a Brazilian bank, clerks quickly sensed something was amiss.

“I don’t think he’s well. He doesn’t look well at all,” remarked one distrustful employee as Vieira tried to get her elderly relative to sign off on a 17,000 reais ($3,250) loan.

Paulo Roberto Braga was indeed indisposed. In fact, the 68-year-old appears to have been dead.

What is it with Floridians and food fights? It seems like at least once a week I'm reading about them pelting one another with foodstuffs.

Good Morning

Shit, it probably improved the neighborhood

Among the 46,000 people in Los Angeles experiencing homelessness, there are dozens living along the Arroyo Seco next to the 110 Freeway near Highland Park.

Those living there have constructed a number of different makeshift structures, some with tents, tarps and other scrap materials, but at least one of the structures, complete with a stone wall, a walkway, a front door, electric-powered lighting and even a hammock for relaxing, stands out.

I ain't saying a word, not one word

Meanwhile, in Memphis.....

M14: America’s Worst Service Rifle - What Went Wrong?

While the US never adopted a significant variation of the M1 Garand (excluding sniper models), testing continued on new iterations and features throughout the war. By the time the war ended, the US military had some specific ideas about what it wanted in a new service rifle. That being, something lighter, capable of automatic fire, and to have one single platform replace the M1 Carbine, M3A1 Grease Gun, M1 Garand, and M1918A2 BAR. New rifles to meet these requirements were developed by Springfield, Remington, and Winchester, ultimately competing against the FN FAL for US service use. The Springfield T44E4 won out (barely) and was adopted on May 1, 1957 at the M14 rifle.

Production of the M14 was plagued by problems, largely due to quality control lapses. Early in production there were heat treatment problems that led to sheared looking lugs and broken receivers. Once those were addressed, the main problem because one of accuracy, with a shocking number of M14s failing to meet the 5.6 MOA minimum accuracy standard. Ultimately production ended in 1963 with 1.38 million M14s produced, and the M16 took over as the new American service rifle.
