My kinda guy

“I like people but I like them in short bursts. I don’t like people in extended periods of time. I’m alright with them for a little while but once you get up past around a minute, minute and a half, I gotta get the fuck out of there. And my reason for this… one that you may share possibly… I have a very low tolerance for stupid bullshit.”

Kirk apologizes for misstating military record

By DEANNA BELLANDI - Associated Press Writer

CHICAGO -- Senate candidate Mark Kirk apologized Thursday for making inaccurate statements about his service in the Navy Reserves, while acknowledging more discrepancies.
"I apologize to everyone for these errors," the Illinois Republican said. "They were my responsibility entirely and I will fix them."
The five-time U.S. representative, who is competing with Democrat Alexi Giannoulias for the Senate seat once held by President Barack Obama, also acknowledged new incidents where public statements didn't match reality about his service.

Senate candidate faces more heat over Navy record

Kirk said a letter sent by his congressional district office last year described him as a veteran of Operation Desert Storm, the first Persian Gulf war, but he did not participate in that operation.
Kirk later flew over Iraq for intelligence reconnaissance missions in 2000. He said Thursday he does not recall coming under enemy fire on those flights and added it was sometimes hard to tell whether his plane was being targeted.
But C-SPAN video shows Kirk on the House floor saying he was fired upon.
"The last time I was in Iraq I was in uniform flying at 20,000 feet, and the Iraqi air defense network was shooting at us," Kirk said in the undated video, which was posted online by the Giannoulias campaign.
Kirk also said last year that he once saw anti-aircraft flack when flying an intelligence mission over Kosovo and thought he might be killed.
The Kirk campaign did not respond Thursday night to requests for clarification on those incidents.
The furor over Kirk's military record took off last week when he acknowledged that, contrary to his many statements over the years, he hadn't won the Navy's award for intelligence officer of the year.
Amid media inquiries to the Navy, Kirk corrected his resume to show he actually received a different award, one that went to his unit instead of him personally.

To Scott from Karen

Scott,
Bunky's home is being built in Warren County in Browntown. He has beautiful views in any direction on his 12.5 acres including a pond which he plans to stock. He can see the cars as they travel on Skyline Drive. His house will have voice activated lights, heat systems, doors, etc. Pulley systems will be installed to help lift him in and out of the bed, his chair, and shower. His deck will wrap around the house so he has escape routes in case of fire. Plus he can race his nieces and nephews in their scooters with his wheelchair which he drives with his head.
The key day, the day the key to the house is turned over to Bunky, is tentatively set for sometime in August. I hope you can come up and join in the celebration. I'll let Ken know when it is and maybe if I say purtty please, he'll post if for me. And when you get there, marvel at the Stars and Bars, please. My team and I are donating and installing the flag and flag pole. Long may she wave!
Thanks,
Karen

Bunky's friends

I read your post about Barry being in Chicago for Memorial Day instead of at Arlington Cemetery, the Wall or the WWII Memorial or the D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA for that matter, where, by the way, they are preparing to erect a bust or picture of Stalin so "people would know what he looked like." I'd rant about that for a little while, but I digress so back to Chicago.
And I promise to neatly tie everything together.

On May 21, 22 and 23, 2010, Bunky's family and friends came together to build him a house. Not a house, a home that would accommodate his 389 pound wheel chair. The three day event was called a build brigade. At any given time there were at least 30 construction workers measuring, sawing, hammering, etc. Then there were the rest of us, a good 10 or more, who manned the registration table, grilled, organized the food, etc.
No one complained. About anything.
There were 4 sets of fathers and sons working all three days. I helped with registration so I was fortunate to talk with a few of the folks, including Brigadier General Boozer from the Pentagon.
Another guy I spoke with was named Rick. He was filling out the paper work and asked, "What's this guy's name again?" His crew of two said they didn't know and looked to me for some help. I was surprised that they didn't have enough respect for Bunky to even remember his last name and got ready to chew them out a little, but said instead, "Where are you from?" They replied, "Harrisonburg" (90 minutes away). I told them Bunky's name and they went on. A little later Rick wonders up and starts asking me questions about Bunky, his injuries and the possibility of him walking again. I answer him and then ask him, "If you don't know Bunky, how did you hear about this?" He said the general contractor called and asked if they would help. Nosy person that I am, I then asked, "Are you volunteering?" He said, "Yes."
He left shortly after that and I thought about our conversation. His company donated 3 men, 2 trucks and that extremely big crane to help build Bunky's house. I am still in awe because here is a company who volunteered the men and equipment to help and they don't know who they are helping. They did it because it needed to be done. And if you had seen the size of that crane that was DRIVEN to the site and think about the amount of money that it would have taken if they hadn't volunteered, well, how can you not be impressed?
And during the opening ceremonies, the crane operator flew the largest American flag I've ever seen over the build site...so high that it cleared the tree tops as it rotated. Awesome. Simply awesome.
A guy from New Jersey loped to the table and announced he was installing the elevator. But get this. The elevator won't be installed until July. He drove 4 hours so he could help build. His company is very small and a family affair, but they raised $10,000 to go towards the elevator installation.
Three mothers from Fredericksburg, 90 minutes away, came to help because they each had at least one son serving.
On Sunday, two brothers, one from Culpeper (1 hour away), the other from Goochland (at least 2 hours away) came to help.
It was easily the best 3 days I've had in a very long time. Another teacher and I volunteered. I even took Friday off. We worked with Bunky's mother before she retired from teaching to take care of him. We were the only two teachers to show our support. How sad is that?

What's this got to do with Chicago? Well, this. The guy from HFOT told us that they had a build brigade for a disabled vet in Chicago. The companies and volunteers did not fulfill their promises and only 6 people showed up. Six. Out of millions of people in Chicago only six showed up. In my opinion, those 6 are the only ones worth a damn. And Barry was not one of the six.
And that, my friend, is my point.

I bet Sean Penn has an idea....

WASHINGTON -- "Top kill" didn't stop the Gulf oil spill. How about something "titanic"?
Federal officials are hoping film director James Cameron can help them come up with ideas on how to stop the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
The "Avatar" and "Titanic" director was among a group of scientists and other experts who met Tuesday with officials from the Environmental Protection Agency and other federal agencies for a brainstorming session on stopping the massive oil leak.
The Canadian-born Cameron is considered an expert on underwater filming and remote vehicle technologies.

You gotta be fucking kidding me. Now your're getting Hollyweird involved?

Al & Tipper split after 40 years

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Al Gore once claimed his romance with wife Tipper inspired the novel "Love Story" and the couple shared an uncomfortably long kiss before millions on the stage of the Democratic National Convention.
Now, after a 40-year marriage that survived the near-death of a child and the heartache of losing the disputed 2000 presidential election, the former high school sweethearts are calling it quits.
"After a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate," the Gores wrote in an e-mail to friends on Tuesday. "This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together."

She was probably pissed because Al wouldn't turn up the heat.
I can hear it now:
"Goddammit Al, I'm fucking cold. Where in the hell is this so-called Global Warming you keep talking about?"
"Shut the fuck up, Tipper. Give it another 200 years."
"Fuck you, Al. I'm moving to Florida."

Misspoke?

My latest in a very long list of pet peeves is the term "I misspoke".
You didn't misspeak, motherfucker. You flat-out fucking LIED.
The first time I heard the term was when Hillary was talking about her landing in Kosivo or wherever the fuck it was, when her and that ugly-ass kid of hers and Bill landed under alleged mortar fire. The video came out later and showed her and Dogface walking off the plane, smiling and waving instead of ducking and running like she originally said.
The latest one was the motherfucking politician saying he was a Viet Nam vet. He came out ONLY after he was busted and said he "misspoke".
   You didn't misspeak, You lied.
You lied. Do I need to say it again?
Had I told Pops when I was a youngster that I had "misspoke" instead of owning up to my lie, I would've gotten my ass beat 3 times. Once for not telling the truth, the second time for playing bullshit games and the third time for being a fucking smartass.
   Okay, I'm done.

That's what you get for screwing around

SAN DIEGO -- The Mexican government says a man who U.S. authorities shot with a stun gun at a San Diego border crossing is unconscious and in serious condition.
The Mexican consulate in San Diego said in a statement Saturday night that agents from the Border Patrol and Customs and Border Protection agencies appear to have used excessive force in the Friday confrontation. It said it was trying to establish contact with the Mexican man's family.
Border Patrol spokesman Daryl Reed says the man was taken to a San Diego-area hospital Friday night at the San Ysidro border crossing separating San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico. Reed says the man had become combative.

FUCK YOU, OBAMA!!!!

The Obamessiah is vacationing in Chicago instead of paying his respects to our Veterans in Arlington.
Might tell you what he thinks of them, huh?
What a prick.....

How much? Are you kidding me?

When it was pitched to Modesto school bond voters in 2001, Gregori High School was supposed to cost $66 million and open by 2006.
But Gregori's price tag will hit $140.7 million by the time it finally opens this August. That's double the promised price, and Modesto City Schools still is arranging funding to pay for it.
The 80-acre campus east of Salida cost 40 percent more than its architectural twin, Enochs High, which opened four years ago in Modesto.

AT A GLANCE•
School opens Aug. 11 at Gregori High.
• An estimated 842 freshmen and sophomores are anticipated. Classes for juniors will be added next year, and classes for seniors will start the following year.
• The school will draw students from Salida and northwest Modesto.
• The campus is at 3701 Pirrone Road, which is north of Kiernan Road between Stoddard and Dale roads. The phone number is 550-3421.
Every aspect of building Gregori was significantly more expensive than Enochs, despite the fact their core designs are essentially identical.
Superintendent Arturo Flores defends the district's construction decisions.
"We spent what needed to be spent on the development of that school," said Flores, who took over as Modesto City Schools' superintendent in 2007. "This is a fine school for a community that sorely needed it."
What boosted Gregori's cost was not construction overruns, but extra expenses caused primarily by its location. It was built on agricultural land beyond the reach of existing water or sewer services or adequate roads. It is miles away from where most Salida students live, which is west of Highway 99.
"It was poor planning to put it on that site. It was built in the wrong location," said Stanislaus County Supervisor Jim DeMartini, who was on the committee that promoted the 2001 school bond. "Taxpayers just got ripped off on a colossal scale."

Laying off teachers yet they can spend $140,000,000 on a school?
